Alex himself’s a young entrepreneur based in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. Becoming a father at the mere school age of 14 was the catalyst behind his unrelenting commitment to removing barriers to success for young people.
Attributing his motivation to the trauma of becoming a father early in his life, Alex felt he no longer ‘fitted in’ and the linear, traditional path set for young people simply wasn’t an option for him. The hunger he felt to belong and to prove his teachers wrong were the ‘situational triggers’ which led him to a moment of epiphany; he’d leave education behind and pursue his own path.
Founded in 2018, Alex established Shift Momentum – a consultancy dedicated to the development and growth of individuals, businesses, and communities. Both Shift Momentum and ‘Shifties’ are built on Alex’s impassioned belief in the role that clusters of entrepreneurs can play in both economic and social development.
Most recently he’s has been appointed Chair for the St Neots Initiative, an independent network aiming to promote the area through sustainable, economic, and environmental development and in doing so, making the town a better place to live, work and play.

If you’re between the ages of 16 and 24, all you need to get started is your curiosity.
Simply by being ‘here’, reading this, proves you’re curious and ready to consider embarking on a quest with a squad of other people just like you, over the course of 6 months.
We believe everyone should have the experience of starting a business of their own, and with the sharing of our knowledge, you’ll be contributing to a more entrepreneurial society whereby everyone has equity in the solutions our world is looking for.
Perhaps you already have an idea and want support in bringing it to life, or maybe you don’t mind what you build as long as it generates income and gives you control of your life. Either way, our platform is where you come to start that journey with other like-minded ’Curious Entrepreneurs’.
This is a funded platform that’ll never charge you for anything and relentlessly throw opportunities your way.

“Hi guys, I’m the Ignition Coach here at ‘Inspire 2 Ignite’. It’s my role to support young people on a daily basis who aren’t in formal education, training or employment on our IGNITE programme, which works with young people aged 16-24 years old. Over the 6 months of the programme, Alex leads on the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, and I look after the human aspect – guiding you on the journey to becoming the best human you can possibly be.”

Resilience, problem-solving, money management and leadership skills are just some of the essential skills and capabilities that can be learned and enhanced through starting a business. The Shift Momentum IGNITE Programme has been built to support young people, aged 16-24 develop valuable life skills by way of starting their own business.
Shift Momentum have designed IGNITE for young people who may have struggled with formal education, or are not sure about what to do next and are at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training), or are unemployed – to provide an alternative route to get excited about.
From learning the fundamentals of working for yourself, through to building a business plan with a go-to-market strategy, our IGNITE Programme will help young people develop the skills to successfully launch a business of their own; or the skills they learn will help them develop into better employees for existing businesses, having a much better understanding of the demands and requirements of running a business.
Shift Momentum are pleased to offer a limited number of free places on IGNITE, funded through the European Social Fund as part of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Region of Learning partnership led by Cambridge City Council with Cambridgeshire County Council.
